The Blackberry is a bramble bush and in the rose family. It is widespread and well know group of several hundred species native to throughout the Northern hemisphere much like the Raspberry. Oregon is the leading Blackberry producer in the world. What a wonderful dessert to combine Raspberries with Blackberries over ice cream or with fresh whip cream.
