Home > Lilies of the Valley (Muguet)
This woodland plant is native throughout the cooler temperature climates. It is a perennial plant that forms extensive colonies by spreading underground stems. Its flowers are bell shaped and smell so sweetly in late spring. The legend is that the Lily of the Valley flower came into being from Eve's tears after driven from Adam in the garden of Eden. The French have a tradition of going out into the woods to pick Lilies of the Valley on the 1st of May.
